Standard checkout experience guide

The new Standard Checkout Experience is a modernized version of the Stripe extension’s payment form. As of version 8.1.0 of the extension, it is now the default for all new installations, and it’s considered a superior option to the legacy checkout experience.

The advantages of using the Standard Checkout Experience are numerous. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Customers can choose their preferred card brand during checkout.
  • Additional payment methods can be used in the checkout block.
  • Some additional payment methods will be saveable to customer accounts.
  • Link by Stripe can be disabled if needed.

Enabling

To enable the Standard Checkout Experience:

  1. Just as you would before making any change to your site, first create a backup.
  2. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe > Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section.
  4. If the “Enable the legacy checkout experience” setting is checked, uncheck it.
  5. Click Save Changes at the bottom.
  1. Place an order or two in test mode to confirm that things are working normally.
